However, none of these offers actually compete with Reliance Jio at least not until March 2017.

According to HSBC's Sharma, Bharti Airtel's latest free voice tariff plans suggest that the market leader is looking to take away the pricing lever being used by Jio to churn subscribers, a view backed by brokerage house Religare.

The schemes priced around Rs 350 - Rs 345 from Airtel and Rs 348 from Idea, will allow customers to make unlimited calls to any network in the country. This plan is available for all 2G, 3G and 4G customers with a validity of 28-days.

The most prominent service providers who have either slashed their data charges or are offering free calls on their network include Airtel, Vodafone and Aircel. People can get the new BSNL connection without any delays, the officials have announced the digital service. Both the companies will provide 300 MB of 4G data to customers with 4G mobile phone and 50 MB for non-4G mobile handset users under this plan. We hope they make the best out of this proposition. After Jio announced its Welcome offer on September 5, Idea like many other telecom companies, also announced a huge price cut of up to 67 per cent on its 3G/4G data packs. The Vodafone and Idea unlimited Calling offer can stop their customers from the navigation to new Reliance Jio. Recently Airtel and Vodafone also updated its voice call plans and rolled out exciting offers to beat Reliance Jio.

Following into Jio's footsteps (not really), Vodafone has doubled the data on its existing schemes over Rs. 255. Similarly, recharges of Rs. 459 and Rs. 559 will entail 6GB and 8GB respectively, rather than the standard 3GB and 4GB. All the plans will be valid for 28 days.

State-owned BSNL too has said it is considering new "less than" Rs 149 prepaid pack that will offer free calls to all networks from January. With a Rs 345 recharge, Airtel prepaid users will be able to make unlimited calls to any network and get 1GB of 4G data for 28 days, the carrier said in a statement. The pack will also be offering 50 MB data along with free Airtel to Airtel calls across India to consumers with the basic mobile phone which are just adequate for general web surfing and light social interactions. Non-4G customers will get 50MB data with the pack and 4G phone customers will get an additional 1GB data.
