The recent spate of discounts on telecom services is seen as a response to Reliance Jio's free data and voice calling offerings that are threatening the user base of incumbent telcos.

State-run BSNL on Friday announced unlimited calling offer for its prepaid customers along with limited free data usage amid free call offers from private competitors like Reliance Jio.

BSNL has introduced Unlimited Voice Calls local and STD BSNL to BSNL with 300MB data for only Rs. 99 with the validity of 28 days for its prepaid mobile customers. If you recharge with RC99, then you have to make unlimited STD and Local BSNL to BSNL voice calls along with 300 MB of data usage.

BSNL said, "The Company has also launched new combo STV for Rs 339 which also provides unlimited voice calling and data services to other networks". BSNL has still been working on in order to establish their 4G services in many parts of the country and the plan remains valid for current 2G, 3G and 4G service users without any hidden charges included in the said package.

The director for Consumer Mobility of BSNL, RK Mittal told that the tariff offered by BSNL are most competitive and is committed to providing affordable and excellent services to our esteemed customers.

The rate will be applicable in Kolkata TD, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Gujrat, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra and Rajasthan for inside network calls.

However, in other circles the same offer will vary from Rs119 to Rs149, the company said.

Vodafone likewise launched comparative plan later. Under the new scheme, the users can avail unlimited voice call from BSNL-to-BSNL network along with the extra data benefit. Reliance group chairman Mukesh Ambani recently announced that Jio services extended to 31st March 2017 and it registered 52 million customers just after the launch in September. In case of non-4G postpaid users, the Rs 549 plan lets such subscribers enjoy 1GB non 4G data within their phones.
