  • Trump Son-in-Law Kushner Arrives in Iraq With Joint Chiefs Chairman on Official Visit

Kushner was on the last day of a two-day trip to Iraq as the guest of Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the US military's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

National Public Radio reported that White House press secretary Sean Spicer confirmed to its reporter early Monday morning that they had arrived. The three men are spending the trip meeting with Iraqi leaders and senior USA advisers, as well as visiting United States troops for an update on the fight against ISIS in the region, according to spokesperson Navy Capt. Greg Hicks. Dunford asked Kushner - who has no previous experience in government - and Bossert to accompany him on the trip, Navy Captain Greg Hicks said in an emailed statement.

"It soon became clear, however, that unless Trump makes drastic changes and shows he's committed to being a president for all Americans, engagement is not an effective tool at this stage".

Kushner has been deeply involved with presidential staffing and played the role of shadow diplomat, advising on relations with the Middle East, Canada and Mexico.

According to the Washington Post, Jared Kushner is also a top contact for a variety of foreign officials, speaking to ambassadors and leaders from over two dozen countries.

Kushner voiced hope the city's eventual recapture from Islamic State would be "a victory for the world".

President Donald Trump's son-in-law turned White House senior advisor flew to Iraq on Monday to assess the war on the Islamic State from the frontlines.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadan met for the first time Trump on March 20 and said that after he had received confirmation of greater support from America in the fight against the Islamic State, but warned that military means will not suffice.

The meeting was held away from Trump Tower to keep it a secret from the public and, in particular, the media.
