A brief auto chase ended in Stephens fatally shooting himself. The video was later uploaded to Stephens' Facebook page, which has since been deactivated. Stephens had been employed as a case worker at a children's mental health facility.

Rumors that Stephens' phone pinged in the Erie, Pennsylvania area surfaced Monday, but Pennsylvania State Police said in a news conference Tuesday that they "had no direct knowledge" of that.

In the footage Stephens pulls over in a auto on a street in Cleveland as he says: "Find me somebody to kill, gonna kill this guy right here".

Facebook said it removed the video of the shooting 23 minutes after learning of it.

She said the two had dated for a while and even looked at engagement rings at one point.

Henry Sayers, the Erie restaurant's manager, tells reporters that Steve Stephens pulled up to the drive-thru Tuesday morning and ordered a 20-piece Chicken McNuggets and french fries.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf tweeted his thanks to the Pennsylvania State Police for their vigilance in pursuing Stephens.

In the video, Stephens told Mr Godwin the name of his girlfriend and said: "She's the reason that this is about to happen to you".

There has been no mention, so far, as to who will receive the reward of up to $50,000 that was offered for the arrest of Stephens, if anyone does.

Stephens is believed to have videotaped his actions and published it on Facebook, along with another video threatening to kill others and claiming he had already killed 13 people.

Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg issued a statement saying, "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Robert Godwin Snr. Period", Cleveland's police chief said.
