Google Photo's is on fire, first we had the I/O Keynote announcements, then yesterday we got a new archive feature (which by the way is now live on the web).

"To bypass "Bouncer", Google Play's [anti-malware] protection, the hackers created a seemingly benign bridgehead app, meant to establish a connection to the victim's device, and insert it into the app store", explains Check Point in its advisory.

A unique feature of this app is that once Cortana knows your preferences, it becomes smarter and better at predicting what information or assistance you need.

Security firm McAfee discovered that some apps which appeared in the Google Play Store under a search for "WannaCry" were malicious. "The malware uses infected devices to generate large amounts of fraudulent clicks on advertisements, generating revenues for the perpetrators behind it".

Chester Wisniewski, principal research scientist at cybersecurity firm Sophos, said in an email: "There are a lot of nasty Android apps out there and only downloading apps from official sources is key to a safe mobile computing experience", he added.

"While it still trails behind the App Store by this measure, Google Play grew its number of equivalent publishers on its US store considerably more than Apple's platform in 2016, by almost 2.8 times from 14 in 2015", said Sensor Tower's head of mobile insights Randy Nelson, in a blog post.

However, the most revolutionary feature to hit Android TV is Google's Assistant.

It seems like Google Photos has come a long way since the app was launched two years ago and with the upcoming features, it is likely that will drastically improve going ahead as well.

The home screen organises video content into channels and programmes "in a way that's familiar to TV viewers", according to Android devices and media developers lead Paul Saxman. For example, all the old receipts that you have captured for future reference can now be pushed to the archive so that you don't have to see them again.

The major contributors to the million-dollar milestone over both major app stores are games. Anti-virus programs don't typically detect such codes, so apps like these go undetected for a good while. Developed by Google Consumer Surveys, users can download the app, answer basic questions, and make some money. If you may remember, it also hit Norway, Denmark, and Sweden a year ago.
